Dear Valerie,
I am so sorry to read of the suffering you've gone through. I, too, wish there was better help and a better explanation available. Best wishes for better health in future and thank you for taking the time to share your story.

Hello I am a 31 yr old daughter of a Vietnam Vet. I was diagnose with endometriosis at age 15. For many years the pain was so bad I could not walk when I had my period. In 2000 my OBGYN wanted to do a hystoectomy I said no. I had my daughter in 2002 and my son in 2006. in 2010 I had an Overi removed and when that didn't help I had a total hystoectomy in 2011. I wish there was other options for people like me.

Dear Brandi,
We are so sorry to hear of what you have suffered with Endometriosis. It is again chilling to hear from another daughter of a Vietnam vet who has been afflicted with this. Someone should write a book about this covering both the incidence of Endometriosis in veteran's daughters as well as what happened to all of the Vietnamese women and children who were sprayed with this horrible poison. I have never seen any documentation of potential incidence of Endometriosis in Vietnam - but I would not be surprised to learn that it is rampant.

War is a terrible thing, and the chemicals invented by warmongering governments are truly evil, for everyone involved. We are deeply saddened by your suffering and send you prayers for healing, Brandi. Thank you for taking the time to share your story.

Dear Amy,
First, let me express my deep sympathy for your loss of your father. I am sincerely saddened to hear of the diseases he suffered and send good wishes for peace to your family in this time of bereavement.

Here in California, female migrant workers suffer high rates of disease and birth defects because of their exposure to pesticides and herbicides in conventional agriculture. This is documented and known, but the beat goes on, with the cost of producing alcohol and food in this unhealthy manner being the women's health and lives and the health and lives of their children. The handshakes between our government and the chemical industry - and the billions of dollars involved - are the reason that little is done to study or recognize tragic phenomena like your father's disease from Agent Orange and the multiple health problems in your family.

As for monetary compensation (as though any amount of money in the world could make up for a lost loved one or lost health) perhaps your family could find a lawyer who specializes in chemical injury, but doing so is going to be beyond the means of most Americans who are struggling to get from month to month these days. It's such an abusive, unjust situation. What would be wonderful would be to find a lawyer who is the descendant of a veteran who was exposed to Agent Orange and whose own family has suffered health anomalies. You would need to find someone who has experienced and believes your experiences, I think, to make progress in this situation.

Amy, if you do any more research into this and want to share anything you find, please let us invite you to come back here and add what you find to the comments. And meanwhile, I hope your family will continue to share your story with the people in your own lives, heightening awareness of the dangers of the chemicals that have been introduced into our environment via war and conventional agriculture.

Again, please accept our good wishes and blessings on your family.

Early this morning, my father passed away due to complications from agent orange. The VA repeatedly denied him full disability. At his time of death, my father was "officially" 40% disabled. He was unable to care for himself. He had congenital heart failure caused by type II diabetes. His kidneys were failing. He had a myriad other diagnoses, all resulting from agent orange. I am so livid at the VA for denying him the rightful compensation that they OWE him. And now I find out that they owe us as well. I never thought that agent orange may be the cause behind my endometriosis and thyroid issues or my sister's fibromyalgia and difficult pregnancies. Two of her children have bronchial issues that have landed them in the hospital several times. One of them was born with a heart murmur. Another child has a small bladder. This is only what we know so far. Other than premature births, my sister and I were relatively healthy growing up. It was later that we both developed reproductive issues. I may be unable to have biological children, and I never thought it was because of agent orange. The VA has a fight on their hands. They aren't just slowly kill thousands of veterans. They are hurting these veterans children and grandchildren. The least they could do is do what New Zealand has done for their veterans. Compensate them. Don't deny them and refuse to do further tests on dying men, telling their families that it doesn't matter if they may have yet another disease caused by agent orange, since they are already dying.

I am a Vietnam vet and my daughter has been suffering from endometriosis for several years. She has endured a miscarrige and has not been able to have any children because of the endometriosis. She in now scheduled to have a hysterectomy next month. I plan to at least file a claim with VA to document my exposure and her ongoing treatment for endometriosis.

Dear Mike,
First let me say how sorry I am to hear of your encounter with Agent Orange and the Endometriosis present in your 2 daughters. This must be very hard for your family.

The documents I linked to in the above comment for the other reader were the ones I drew chiefly from. Have you taken a look at these? I hope they may be of help to you, and I sincerely wish you well in your effort to have the harm done to you and your family publicly recognized.

Interesting article; I am a Vietnam Vet who served in 67 - 68 with infantry and was exposed in the most heavily sprayed area Phuoc Tuy Province, III Corp area from memory.

I have two of my three daughters diagnosed with Endometriosis and I see from the above article that there is a linkage to siblings being exposed purely due to hereditary process from Vietnam Vet to siblings.

I would appreciate any articles, especially studies with Vietnam Vet siblings / non Vietnam Vet siblings, for and against, arguing the above as I am putting forward a case to try and have at least medical costs being meet by the New Zealand Government who sent to Vietnam.

Your help will be very much appreciated and I feel for all who have Endometriosis diagnosed.

Dear Anna,
I am so sorry to hear you are suffering from this.

Let me share a couple of links with you for more information:
