Carey not an Entomologist? What else is Kawamura confused about?

It came as a surprise to Dr. James Carey to hear that he isn’t an entomologist, according to Ag. Secretary A.G. Kawamura. Watch the CBS news report featuring this bizarre statement from Kawamura, whose aides must have frantically called CBS to explain that their chief was ‘confused’.

What Else is Kawamura Confused About?

Could it be that he’s been confusing vegetables with human beings and this is why he feels it’s his job to spray us with pesticides?

And, is is just me, or is he looking more and more worn down every time he appears on TV?

Let us hope his conscience is somehow coming to life and eating at him.

I was extremely heartened to see CBS run this report which was very clearly calling CDFA’s whole deceitful game plan into question and am eagerly awaiting news from today’s events in Sacramento.

Please, if anyone was there today, share what happened.

What else is Kawamura confused about???
    Oh, one or two things.
Let’s start with this one. He claims to be an organic farmer. I’d like him to prove it.
Let me ask you this: if you were an organic farmer but better known for being Secy of Agriculture, and you were asked to give the keynote address for an organic farming organization, wouldn’t you mention in your bio for that organization that you were an organic farmer?
The press release announcing his appearance contains a bio that mentions nothing about his being an organic farmer. I don’t think he is one. I don’t think he has ever been one. I think he is a shameful liar. See for yourself: http://www.ccof.org/press012004.php

Donna - Goodness knows, we can all use a laugh at this point. I’m afraid I’m developing a ’stress fracture’ of the head!

    Little Birdie -
My goodness, this is the first time I’ve heard that A.G. Kawamura is billing himself as an organic farmer!

    That’s completely nuts.

My understanding of A.G. Kawamura’s agricultural orientation was that he was the chairman of the Western Grower’s Association - a group notorious for attempting to block any measures meant to protect farm workers and agricultural communities.

But now, he’s an organic farmer? I’d appreciate a link to where he is claiming this, if you have one.

As for A.G. - come on, show us your compost pile, your rotated crops, your green manure, your beneficial insects. Oops, did you spray Checkmate on all of them? Sorry, bub, they’re not organic any more.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I would not put it past this man to claim he suffers from Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, and therefor, the spraying is fine. Just pathetic.

I hope you’ll come back soon.

Look in the third paragraph of this article:

I’ve also heard A.G. say he’s an organic farmer when he’s spoken at public meetings in Santa Cruz County. But this guy will apparently say anything. I sure wish I had a recording of his first appearance at the Santa Cruz City Council (maybe someone will go through the archives at lbamspray.com and find this, but it was in a very long presentation he gave back in October 2007). There he said that people thought cars and trucks were dangerous when they were first introduced, but that THEY’VE TURNED OUT TO BE FINE!!!

He may not be an organic farmer, but he sure as heck knows how to shovel the manure!

Sure enough, the author of that article believed Kawamura to be an organic farmer, Little Birdie. That’s a little bit like saying Mussolini was really Santa Claus.

And - you’ve turned up another item of Kawamura confusion. Cars are fine? Clearly, he has not heard about Global Warming.

I’d like to laugh but it’s all so awful.

    Thanks for sharing that link.

Governor Schwarzenegger appointed A.G. Kawamura as secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture in November 2003 (political appointment).

Secretary Kawamura is a produce grower and shipper from Orange County, where his family grows strawberries, green beans and other specialty crops (who’s actually growing those crops - him and/or his family?)

Secretary Kawamura is not professionally qualified to be the Secretary of Agriculture.
Secretary Kawamura has a bachelor’s degree in comparative literature from U.C. Berkeley. No educational degrees in: medicine; public health; agriculture; and entomology.

Governor Schwarzenegger - a body builder turned actor turned Governor.

Is it any wonder California is in this LBAM nightmare with these two useless government officials?

Please take the time to watch this segment we produced at the recent Stop the Spray benefit concert up in Marin County, where many famous musicians and movie stars came out against the spraying of light brown apple moths:
