Posted by Vegan Reader from the Petition Site:

Anneliese Valdes, Wisconsin
I am planning to travel to the San Francisco Bay area this summer for business. The spraying of harmful chemicals in the air would certainly affect my travel plans. I would also question whether any food grown in the area should be considered safe to eat.

Hi, I was a resident in Santa Cruz county with chemical sensitivities. When they sprayed in Santa Cruz in fall 2007, I became so ill that I almost couldnt breathe and had to go to the emergency room for treatment. My blood pressure (normally low) went up to 164/120. I was violently ill with vomiting, body aches, and burning lungs. I had chest pain that lasted 11 weeks, and who knows what long term damaged it has caused. I spent every bit of my energy working to stop the spray with CASS. My doctors told me I had to leave the area before the ground or aerial spray starts again as I am too sensitive and may not live thru another spray. I am now writing to you from New Mexico, my new place of residence. After living in Santa Cruz, CA for 30 years, I have left like a refugee, searching for clean air and starting over in an entirely new place. I have vowed to keep fighting this from wherever I am, and I want people to know how serious this is. Even if you are not chemically sensitive now and may still be standing after another spray, repeated exposures cause chemical sensitivity and worse...I imagine others are leaving too, or will leave soon if the spray is not stopped.

Thank you Mim. Your articles are great and I will be quoting you. The legislation that has been introduced regarding stop the spray will be discussed in committee on April 8th and 16th. We will be attending. It would be wonderful if some of this legislation gets out of committee and onto the legislative floor.

Keep fighting the fight, Janis

Dear Janis,
You are most welcome to quote any or all parts of any article on this website for the purpose of working to stop the spray.

I am so sorry to learn that you were already sprayed twice. That is so unacceptable, and I can identify with what you are going through in contemplating fleeing the next spraying. We are in the same boat, facing the possibility that our family may have to leave behind everything we have ever known in an attempt to seek safety. It is a heinous thing that our government is turning free American citizens into refugees.

I was heart glad when I first came across the announcement of the Coalition of California Cities to Stop the Spray. We have blogged about what you and your husband are doing, so it is a pleasure to 'meet' you. Please, keep up the brave and important work you folks are doing. Every one of us needs to be listening for the call to action that will tell us where we can best serve in this public health crisis.

Thanks for asking permission, Janis, and I sincerely hope that your family will reach a time of peace in the future.

I am a Pacific Grove resident. We were the first sprayed and have been sprayed two times. I became very ill, which has forced me to become very actively involved to stop the spray. If we don't stop it, we will have to sell our home of 30 years, our business of 40 years, may parents home and move away. Where? I don't know, another country? I work with my husband, who is the coordinator of the Coalition of California Cities to Stop the Spray. Along with that out reach I am independently writing all the California Chambers of Commerce. This is why I am writing, I would like to quote parts of this article to them in email contacts. Please let me know if I have your permission to do so.

Thank you for all the articles in support of stopping the spray. If we all put in the time, maybe we can change stop them. They say they have the authority, but we have to remind them that "We the people" have the power.

Joanie Greggains will have the CDFA on her health & fitness show 4/5/08, 8-10 AM PDT. She is very much against the spraying and encourages ALL to call in at 808-0810. KGO is 810AM on the dial or at www.kgoam810.com (streamed and also archived for MP3 download, for 7 days). KGO allows you to post the shows after the broadcast. A chance for your voice to be heard on the air!
