Please, check out this post from Billy Amon, a fellow vegan who lives in Washington and runs the terrific Vegan Talk blog.

We are so grateful to Billy and his readers for caring about this. My experience with the aerial spraying disaster in California is that once people know it’s happening, they are horrified. We need desperately for all Americans to react with loud, resolute opposition to this violation of human, animal and environmental rights. We need to keep spreading the word.

One of Billy’s readers shares that family members living in Monterey wound up with a $2000 vet bill when their dogs were sprayed and had to be rushed to medical care due to violent illness. It is incredibly wrong that innocent, helpless animals are being abused in this way by the California Department of Food and Agriculture.

As we have learned, there are 2 possible solutions to the spraying crisis.

1) To reclassify the moth as a non-invasive pest so that trade restrictions will not be applied to the money interests who are demanding that California be aerially sprayed with poison.

2) Have the Federal Government withdraw funding for the spraying.

We must fight until we make one of these 2 things happen, and Vegan Reader gives special thanks to Vegan Talk for being one more voice of hope during these dark, fighting hours.
